We heard on
the radio bus, and it was so heavy and exaggerated the bouzouki joint-not
distinguish words-which I wondered whether this thing was a joke. It was.
Katerina Stanisi a popular greek singer making fun of herself delightfully in
one ad that really might be the first jumbo that I liked. Completely kitsch,
intolerable music, the slaughtered animal - things that now are not familiar to
me, but as a child necessarily after living in this country is considered
normal. Transmits a spring feeling of warmth that exists deep in the Greek
collective subconscious, and describes /makes fun of the Greek Easterwith-the
sweet naivete and safety-as we remembered from childhood.
